Celebrity Playlist: Sean Giambrone of "The Goldbergs"

Whether you grew up in the ‘80s or not, the ABC sitcom The Goldbergs is still one of the funniest shows on broadcast TV at the moment, and for that, you can thank series creator Adam F. Goldberg, who effectively took his childhood – the highs, the lows, and a whole lot of the hilarity – and put it on the small screen for everyone to enjoy. As such, even with a great cast of comedic actors, including Jeff Garlin, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Troy Gentile, Hayley Orrantia, and George Segal, not to mention narration from Patton Oswalt, a great deal of the show lives and dies by the performance of the young man playing Adam Goldberg.

That young man’s name is Sean Giambrone, and he’s been kind enough to provide us with a Celebrity Playlist to coincide with the Season Two premiere of The Goldbergs...which, by happy coincidence, is entitled “Love Is a Mixtape.”

Tommy James and the Shondells, “Crimson and Clover”
Sean Giambrone: “A favorite song, one that reminds me of drinking a pop.”

The Band, “The Weight”
SG: “This is my brother Luke’s and my song”

Matchbox 20, “Unwell”
SG: “At 4 and 5 years old, I belted this song out while riding in the car. I honestly thought I was great singer singing this. I am actually the opposite.”

Aerosmith, “Dude Looks Like A Lady”
SG: “This was the song that was playing on my first roller coaster and was my first concert. It is the family band.”

Bread, “Everything I Own”
SG: “The soothing sounds of Bread are simply the best whether it be ‘Everything I Own,’ ‘Make it With You,’ or ‘Baby I'm a Want You.’ These always seem to be a great background to life.”

Peter Schilling, “Major Tom”
SG: “This song just plainly kicks butt.”

Looking Glass, “Brandy”
SG: “Another one of my brother and my songs that we love to groove to.”

Paper Lace, “The Night Chicago Died”
SG: “I'm from Chicago and this song just makes me think of home.”

Freda Payne, “Band of Gold”
SG: “This could very well be 2nd on my top favorites. I always sing this song in the car until it drives everyone crazy.”

George Harrison, “What is Life”
SG: “This is Quala-T! A classic, at its best…but I still haven't answered his question.”

Jim Croce, “Operator”
SG: “This is my all-time favorite song. It is the feel good song of the century, even though he is not singing about the most uplifting subject. And for the longest time, I thought that he was saying ‘arboretum.’"

John Denver, “Rocky Mountain High”
SG: “This is the song that was playing when I found out The Goldbergs was a go. It also makes me think of times at my grandma and grandpa's farm which is near Denver. It makes me feel so peaceful.”
