Janis Joplin
This is Janis Joplin at Woodstock. I know she came on right at night, I can't remember which night – probably Saturday night. And once again I was lucky enough to have a front row seat, because I was shooting for the producer Michael Lang and so I got to stand on the little catwalk three feet below the stage, so my waist was at the stage level. And it was the catwalk they built for Michael Wadleigh to film the movie. But since I was working for the producer, I was the only photographer that could stand up there; the rest had to stand way down in the pit. So I literally had the best seat in the house.
