![]() Ryan O'NealIn 1971 I was sent to a set in the Four Corners area of Arizona (where John Wayne and John Ford made so many films) for a movie called The Wild Rovers. It starred William Holden and was a cowboy movie; Ryan O'Neal was in it, too. West Magazine was the L.A. Times Sunday magazine section and they sent me out there with half a dozen shirts to do an advertisement with Ryan O'Neal wearing these shirts. The day I got there, he had just left to go back to L.A., so the movie's P/R guy said "Why don't you just stick around for a couple of days? It's better than going home and coming back." So I got to hang out for two or three days on the set and just take pictures of Navajo goat herders, all kinds of stuff; I had a great time there knocking around. Finally Ryan O'Neal came back and we spent the afternoon doing these shirt pictures. He was a real nice guy. I remember our car got stuck on a dirt road; we all had to get out and push it, and he helped do that. We were standing side by side trying to push this car out of a rut. ::next |
