The Dillards
Here’s The Dillards, who were friends of mine from The Troubadour, and we went out to Topanga and found a place where they had old junk cars & trucks and this bus. I wrote their names under each window there (that’s my handwriting), and they all got in. There’s the legendary Douglas Dillard, second from the right, who was one of the greatest banjo players. These guys played The Troubadour all the time and they also were on Andy Griffith’s show Maybery R.F.D. Several times they performed on that show; they would sit around in the living room playing country hicks who would play music.
