Hitting The High Seas
This picture is of the three Monkees dressed as pirates; they're gonna walk the plank here (the others are bit actors). This was called "Hitting The High Seas," and it was done in summer of '67. We actually went down to San Pedro and went out on a boat that they'd rigged up part of as a pirate ship. It was three or four days, I believe. The very first day, Mike got seasick, so they kinda had to write him out of the script for that one episode. He wasn't in it because he couldn't be out there all day rocking around -- we weren't actually going anywhere, we were just sitting there and it was a wavy sea and real easy to get seasick.
