Richard Pryor
Richard Pryor’s first album was on a label called Dove Records, and Bobby Roberts was the president of the record company. He called my friend Gary Burden and I -- Gary was my graphic artist partner -- and said “would you take some shots of this comedian?” We’d never met him before. So Richard came over to Gary’s house and we went out to his garage, which we’d converted into a sort of a studio, and we took these pictures out there. He was so funny, I mean he kept making faces and just kept us in stitches the whole time as I was clicking away.
