Out Now: Whitesnake, WHITESNAKE: 30TH ANNIVERSARY – SUPER DELUXE EDITION

When Whitesnake was founded in 1978, David Coverdale was already a star in the UK, having fronted Deep Purple from 1973-1976 and then followed his stint with that band with a solo career. The decision to start his own band proved to be a wise one, thankfully, resulting in four of the band’s albums climbing into the Top 10 of the UK Albums chart between 1978 and 1984. In 1987, however, Whitesnake finally conquered America, and when they did, they became superstars.

In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Whitesnake’s self-titled 1987, Rhino has reissued the WHITESNAKE album in a variety of formats, and we’ll detail them all below, but none in the bunch is more impressive than the Super-Deluxe edition.

Here’s the full list of formats:

  • A single-disc version of the newly-remastered album.
  • A 2-CD Deluxe Edition featuring the newly-remastered album expanded to include a number of previously-unreleased bonus recordings.
  • A 2-LP Deluxe Edition featuring the newly-remastered album expanded to include a number of previously-unreleased bonus recordings.
  • A 4-CD / 1-DVD Super Deluxe Edition featuring the newly-remastered album, previously-unreleased live and studio recordings, music videos, concert footage, a 30-minute documentary featuring a new interview with David Coverdale, a 60-page hardcover book featuring rare and previously-unseen photos, an essay, and the album’s lyrics handwritten by Coverdale.

See what we mean? You can’t go wrong with that Super-Deluxe Edition. And, of course, there will also be digital versions of all the versions, although keep in mind that the digital Super-Deluxe Edition only includes the audio material.
