Kill City Revisited: Confessions of a Fool for the Stooges
This piece started as liner notes for a reissue of Kill City, the Iggy Pop & James Williamson album of 1975 demo sessions financed and overseen by former Creem magazine editor Ben Edmonds. In this vastly expanded reworking Edmonds recounts the recording of the album that represents the birth if Iggy Pop's solo career. It was also the final nail in the coffin of the Stooges, the beloved band of star-crossed punk forefathers fronted by Iggy. Edmonds reflects on his lifelong passion for the music of the underdog Stooges, who were among the most reviled bands of their time but are now honored members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A long strange trip indeed.
