By 1986, Tina Turner was sitting on top of the music world–literally. The global success of her 1984 full-length Private Dancer had elevated the long revered star to the highest echelons of the music industry. The power and clout that came with the Private Dancer allowed Turner the freedom to craft 1986 classic, Break Every Rule. Opening with the iconic lead single, “Typical Male,” the track featuring Phil Collins on drums flew all the way to #2 on the Hot 100. Spinning of two more top 30 singles. (“What You Get is What You See,” “Two People”), Break Every Rule delivered Turner her third Grammy win in the form of the Best Rock Vocal Performance, Female, for “Back Where You Started.” The Break Every Rule world tour including Turner’s record-breaking performance in Rio de Janeiro for 180,000 fans.
