Internships for students in or around Burbank, CA.

Rhino Entertainment is seeking hi-energy, dedicated interns to assist in the departments listed below. Our internships are for academic credit only. They are unpaid, but offer invaluable experience, contacts, free CDs, videos and other goodies. You should be available at least 12 hours per week for one semester or quarter. ART
This internship does not include hands-on work in graphic design; however, it will assist greatly in broadening a student's knowledge of the Art process and in giving the student a basic understanding of some fundamental design terms and concepts. General administrative duties: light phones, faxing, copying, messengers, etc., logging portfolios, updating Rolexes, mailing list. Organizational projects: Filing and sorting samples of illustrators, designers, photographers, and studios, filing and organizing job bags, helping to refine and update administrative filing system. Ongoing duties: Assisting with photo tracking/return.

ARTISTS & REPERTOIRE
Self-starter needed to create liner note tracking sheets with Excel, light filing, manage promo/artist mail-outs, and learn the A&R Database on Filemaker Pro. Strong research skills, attention to detail a must. Provide work tapes/DATs/CDs (requires use of audio equipment), maintain project files, provide track lists.

BUSINESS AFFAIRS
Administrative assistance in correspondence, industry relations, various research projects, and general office support. Department handles artist relations, project development, catalogue acquisition, and legal negotiations. Ideal for someone interested in practicing phone and business manner and obtaining overall view of record company functions. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

HUMAN RESOURCES
We are seeking applicants that are enrolled in a Business or Human Resources related program. Depending on your desire, you can learn the Recruitment, Benefits, Payroll, Employee Relations and Compensation processes.

MARKETING- PRODUCT MANAGEMENT
Interns will observe Marketing meetings and participate in Marketing events allowing them the opportunity to see how effective marketing plans/campaigns are developed. Responsibilities: conduct research, pull soundscan reports, assist with events such as "Rhino Retrofest," assist with the assembly of various reports, general office assistance such as data entry, faxing, copying, filing, etc. Ability to navigate in Windows environment and on the internet.

MEDIA RELATIONS
Interns will help the publicity staff spread the good word about Rhino and its releases to print and broadcast media. Duties will include filing magazines, newspaper clippings, and press materials; duplicating press releases, bios, and other collateral; and collating press kits, promotional mailings, and care packages for journalists. Also involves data entry and some research/special projects at the direction of the publicists. Must be detail-oriented and reliable.

PROMOTIONS
Dependable self-starter that can handle projects with little supervision. Data entry, light filing, light phones, faxing, misc. mailings, distribute Soundscan, fill DJ paid orders and other special projects as needed. Some knowledge in radio helpful but not necessary. Must be computer savvy.

RHINO HOME VIDEO
Assist in the implementation of sales, marketing, and acquisition efforts. Responsibilities include market research; researching who controls video rights, sales figures, and other information; occasional faxing and writing correspondence; reading trade and consumer magazines for pertinent articles; organizing and compiling press clippings; developing marketing ideas and p.o.p suggestions; database inputting; maintaining inventory levels; organizing and maintaining video sleeves & sell sheets; and calling and visiting retailers to research specific Rhino Video titles. Applicants must have basic IBM and Macintosh computer skills and be proficient in English.

SPECIAL PRODUCTS
Responsible for custom packaging for clients including Starbucks, Old Navy, and Kee Bee Toys, Special Products operates Rhino's budget line Flashback and third party manufacturing deals. Interns would learn the ins and outs by setting up database for Premiums & Third Party projects, logging premiums in database, and creating libraries for samples. Additional duties will include data entry of Flashback catalog requests, research songwriters and chart positions, and filing of CDs.

LICENSING/SYNCH
Licensing/Synch department: handles the pitching and licensing of Warner Music Group's music for film, TV, commercials, video games, etc. This internship will familiarize you with WMG's current & catalog artists and give you the opportunity to interact with people & artists at all of the labels. We’re looking for someone who feels excited to get to learn about the label group as a whole as you'll be meeting a ton of people within the industry, especially WMG. Duties include research, filing, assisting in coordinating artist showcases, phones, assisting in the creation of samplers and more.

WEB DEPARTMENT

Have you ever dreamed of fighting dragons, pole-vaulting, and/or reawakening your inner spirit through the power of dance? Well, you can keep dreaming about all of this and more as you begin your exciting journey as Rhino New Media intern. Oh, we won't pay you, but once you’ve talked an unsuspecting faculty member into giving you course credit, and you’ll still owe the school tuition, but at least you won’t have to buy basket weaving supplies for these credits towards your diploma.

We'll even help you write up an independent study description that will have all of the right buzzwords for your career launching resume.


Skills

You'll need to have at least one of these skills:
- Working understanding of HTML
- Basic Proficiency in Word & Excel
- Image processing (Photoshop or similar)
- Basic PHP / MySQL / Javascript / Lassocoding

Not required, but very useful:
- Flash / QuickTime / WindowsMedia / Real / SMIL
- Audio Editing


Responsibilities will include some or all of these

Website production
- Edit web pages as needed
- QA testing
- Cover & text gathering
- Audio file encoding
- Update website databases as needed
- Working from templates, create banners, buttons & other graphics
- Resize artwork
- Podcast segment editing / recording

Customer Service
- Inquiry routing
- Data entry
- Product replacement

Statistics and Reporting
- Assist with detail site and project reports for traffic and sales

Promotions & Merchandising
- Giveaway organizing and fulfillment


Must be able to receive course credit for this internship!

Hours: as many as you’re able to devote during the week.
